Georges Duboeuf Morgon Jean Descombes
The Wine Advocate
Georges Descombes – who employs only a first initial on his label – has rendered a superb 2006 Morgon. As usual for his approach to this appellation, Descombes only recently released it. Brimming with cassis and black raspberry and threaded with decadently bitter-sweet floral perfume and sinewy, subtly gamey meatiness, this concentrated cru finishes with focus and lip-smacking brightness of fruit and salty minerality, only hinting at the animal and mossy depths that will emerge if you follow some bottles over the coming 2-3 years.
