Colour: The wine is visibly limpid, brilliant, an intense ruby red color, with reflections of garnet. Bouquet: intense, persistent, full and ethereal, revealing the aromas of spices, forest floor, small red fruit and rich perfumed roses. The taste: The wine is elegant, harmonious, with long aromatic persistence, balanced tannins and well rounded, with a dry and persistent finish. Food accompaniment: Red meats, game, mushroom and truffle dishes, aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Tuscan Pecorino. An excellent wine for meditation.

The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the darkest wines of the 2009 vintage with enormous depth and textural richness that wraps smoothly over the palate. The wine imparts generous pulses of dark cherry, dried blackberry, Indian spice and moist tobacco that work their way over the palate with soft, chewy consistency. Of particular note are the balsam notes of cola and licorice that are so characteristic of Brunello. Although this wine doesn't have the high definition of successful past vintages, this wine does boast enough baby fat to count on a greater evolution with more bottle aging. Drink: 2016-2022.

Opening aromas include black berries, toast and underbrush with whiffs of leather and eucalyptus. The palate delivers fleshy black cherry accented with vanilla, black pepper and coffee alongside dusty tannins. It closes on a sweet note of almost overripe fruit and is fast approaching its ideal drinking window.

Shows fine depth, with cherry, plum, eucalyptus and earth flavors. This is slightly chunky, showing chewy tannins on the finish, but retaining enough sweetness in the end. Best from 2015 through 2025.
