Churchill's Vintage Port 2011
Offers intense aromas and flavors of violet, cherry and dark plum, showing an almost exotic velvety nature, with loads of cream and spice accents. Delivers notes of chocolate and vanilla extract on the explosive finish. Very alluring. Best from 2030 through 2060. 800 cases imported.
The Churchill's Vintage Port has a comparatively light, aniseed-tinged bouquet with orange blossom that wafts seductively from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannins and very well-judged acidity that lends this young Churchill's great precision. This is a very harmonious Vintage Port with a lovely touch of salted licorice towards the finish. Beautiful. 3,000 cases declared. Tasted May 2013.
Good bright, deep ruby. Highly nuanced nose combines blueberry, blackberry, violet, spices and graphite minerality complemented by hints of molasses, tobacco and white pepper. Firmly built, minerally and classic; not a particularly sweet or opulent style but supple, seamless and understated. Finishes with a firm tannic structure and terrific focus and length. Lovely finesse and clarity here--and built for a leisurely evolution in bottle.
