Château-Meyney St. Estephe 2012
|Region||France, Bordeaux, St. Estephe|
This estate is quickly returning from a long period of mediocrity. This sleeper of the vintage exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to copious notes of black raspberries, blueberries, loamy soil and roasted Provencal herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it should drink well for 10-12+ years.
On the burly side, with roasted cedar and chestnut notes framing a core of bitter plum, blackberry coulis and charcoal. Leather and bay accents line the finish, with an olive hint peeking in. There's depth and flesh here though, so the rusticity may meld a bit more with modest cellaring. For fans of the style. Best from 2016 through 2020. 12,083 cases made.
